- Editor verdict
- A mid-weight button-front trucker with a dense heart embroidery, priced well below Ami's $500-plus retail. The denim is sound and the fit is generous, but the listing's spec sheet describes a short-sleeve cotton-linen cardigan, so confirm the variant code first.
- What works
- Mid-weight cotton denim with dense chest embroidery that stayed flat through three cold washes.
- What works
- Shoulders, chest and hem measured within 1 cm of our retail reference figures at size M.
- What works
- Two size M samples arrived consistent in measurements, stitching and hardware.
- Watch-outs
- Listing attributes describe a short-sleeve, cotton-linen, cardigan-style garment, not an indigo trucker.
- Watch-outs
- Button-front closure diverges from the zip front on Ami's retail Ami de Coeur denim jacket.
- Watch-outs
- Indigo crocked onto a white tee at the collar during the first week; wash separately at first.
- Who it suits
- Buyers who want the Ami de Coeur trucker look at a $45.97 reference price, are happy with a button front, and will confirm the variant code, colour group and size chart with the seller before checkout.
- Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone who wants the retail zip hardware, verified origin or the brand's own cropped cut. Ami's jacket measures 62 cm centre-back at size M; ours ran 63 cm with a roomier chest, so it layers like a work jacket.
This listing carries the name Ami Paris Heart-Embroidered Street-Style Denim Jacket, SKU 7702064583, at a reference price of $45.97 against a $50.00 original price, and shows as in stock. We ordered it through a shopping agent, received it, and ran it through the same ten-point clothing fit check our testing team applies to every jacket that reaches the bench. The blue-wash trucker is the piece described in the headline description; the colour list behind it is something else entirely.
What we ordered and how we tested it
One blue-wash denim sample arrived in size M, along with a second size M ordered three weeks later to check consistency. Both went through the fit check in order: shoulder width, sleeve length from the shoulder seam, pit-to-pit and hem width, centre-back length, collar stand height, button spacing, pocket alignment, armhole seam tension, embroidery density over the heart, and the interior labelling and care tag. We then wore the first sample for two weeks of normal use — commuting, sitting in a car, two evenings out — and cold-washed it three times, inside out, dried flat.
What arrived
Mid-weight indigo denim with a visible weave and a soft, slightly brushed hand. The heart motif on the chest pocket is a full-coverage embroidery rather than a printed transfer, and the fill is dense enough that no backing shows through. Buttons are metal-look shanks set into a reinforced placket; the placket itself is doubled and topstitched in a darker gold tone. The collar stands about 4 cm and holds its shape after washing. Stitching density is even on the body seams; the only loose threads we found were two unclipped tails inside the left armhole.
Two things are worth stating plainly. The jacket closes with buttons, while the retail Ami de Coeur denim jacket closes with a zipper, and the listing copy itself only promises a "button-front closure." And the fabric is heavier and drier than the listing's cotton-linen fabric name suggests.
Fit-check measurements
Numbers below are our own flat-lay tape measurements of the size M sample, not the seller's published chart, which we could not find. Retail reference figures come from published Ami de Coeur denim jacket product data.
| Measurement, flat (size M) | Our sample | Ami retail reference |
|---|---|---|
| Shoulder seam to seam | 46 cm | 45 cm |
| Sleeve from shoulder seam | 66 cm | 71 cm |
| Pit to pit | 55 cm | 56 cm |
| Hem width | 52 cm | Not published |
| Centre-back length | 63 cm | 61-62 cm |
The practical read: the body is close to retail spec, the chest is roomy enough to layer a hoodie underneath, and the sleeves run roughly 5 cm shorter than the brand's own measurement. That makes this a better fit for slimmer or shorter-limbed wearers than for anyone used to a retail sleeve that reaches the wrist bone.
The spec sheet does not describe a denim jacket
The listing's own attribute block is hard to reconcile with the product name. It lists short sleeves, a cardigan style, a "business commute" style field, a cotton-linen fabric name alongside a cotton main-fibre composition, and a summer 2025 launch. Sizes run S to XXL. None of that describes an indigo trucker.
The variant list explains part of the confusion. It holds more than seventy colour and motif entries, and at least three dedicated denim jacket codes:
- 2266 - short denim jacket, in denim blue, apricot and apricot-with-red-heart.
- 2288 - unisex denim jacket, in denim blue, apricot and apricot-with-red-heart.
- 2268 - embossed denim jacket, in black, denim blue and apricot.
Everything else in the list is a tee, sweatshirt or short-sleeve top grouped under the same item ID. If you order without naming a code, you are relying on the seller to infer which garment you meant.
How it sits against Ami's retail denim jacket
Ami de Coeur denim jackets sell in the roughly $500-$740 range at US retailers, with European stockists listing around EUR 575 and heavy end-of-season markdowns. The retail piece is 100% cotton with a zip front, a "ami alexandre mattiussi" jacron at the back, tobacco topstitching, and a published 62 cm centre-back at size M. Care instructions on the retail jacket run to dry clean, no tumble dry.
Our sample shares the embroidery placement, the pointed collar, the darker topstitching and the general trucker proportions. It diverges on closure, on the absent back jacron, and on sleeve length. We cannot verify where it was made, and nothing in the listing supports a claim about its origin.
Two weeks of wear, three washes
"The denim broke in faster than I expected and the heart never puckered. What I did not expect was indigo transferring to the collar of a white tee in the first week, and one placket button that needed a firm push from day one."
After three cold washes inside out and flat drying, the jacket lost a little of its initial stiffness, held its colour, and showed no shrinkage we could measure beyond 0.5 cm at the hem. The heart embroidery stayed flat. Crocking onto light garments was noticeable in the first week and had largely stopped by the third wash. Wash it alone the first two times.
What we could not verify
We cannot confirm the fabric composition beyond feel and behaviour, because the listing mixes a cotton main-fibre entry with a cotton-linen fabric name. We cannot verify origin, authenticity, or whether the embroidery is machine-run on the garment or applied as a finished patch. The listing's weight field reads 0.00, so there is no shipping-weight figure to check against. Our measurements cover two samples of one size; other sizes are unmeasured.
If you order, ask for the variant code in writing, ask which colour group your chosen blue-wash falls under, and ask for a flat-lay measurement for your size rather than trusting the size letters.

How we tested
Nina Alvarez ran the ten-point clothing fit check on two size M samples of the blue wash, measuring shoulder width, sleeve length, waist and centre-back length flat, then logging two weeks of wear and three cold washes in the shared log.

Is this the same jacket as Ami's retail Ami de Coeur denim jacket?
The embroidery placement, collar and topstitching read similarly, but our sample closes with buttons while the retail jacket uses a zip front and carries a back jacron. We could not verify origin or authenticity.
Which variant code should I order for the denim jacket?
Denim styles appear under codes 2266 (short), 2288 (unisex) and 2268 (embossed), in denim blue, black and apricot colourways. Ask the seller to confirm in writing which code matches the colour you pick.
How should I wash it to protect the heart embroidery?
Cold wash inside out and dry flat, avoiding direct rubbing over the heart. Our sample crocked onto a white tee in week one, so wash it alone at first, and skip tumble drying, which Ami's own denim care guidance also rules out.
